Forestry
(Formerly Treemendous)
Science
Olympiad Coaches & Students,
Project
Idea for Treemendous Teams:
Have students use digital cameras to take
high quality photos of the various species
of trees in your community which are listed
below and send them to:
treemendous@scienceolympiad.com.
We will begin compiling an on-line photo
album made up of great photos and give credit
to the individuals who have taken the shots
and their teams if that information is provided.
As soon as sufficient resources are collected,
a select group of students will begin organizing
the photos and information which will have
been collected. Hopefully this will result
in a comprehensive tool specifically geared
toward helping Science Olympiad students.
Thank
you.
P.S.
- A great way to conduct an internet search
for specific
photos and information is to use the Google
search engine and type in the genus
species name of a specific tree. Good
Luck!
As time allows, Northshore Charter School
Science Olympiad
will be linking each species to the best
resources available
for each specific species and/or resources
provided by Science Olympiad students.
Keep checking back to see how our site
changes. Write
if you would like to be involved with
this building process.
- Currently, each species listed (and
underlined) below has a hyperlink to the
North Carolina State University College
of Agriculture and Life Science or the
Virginia Tech Forestry Department websites.
Northshore Charter School Science Olympiad
has culled their lists and made it easier
for Science Olympiad students to learn
more about the species specifically selected
by Science Olympiad for competition. Note
that it may take a bit of practice getting
used to using this dynamic list as an
interactive study resource. But, as you
will see by using it, the culled, dynamic
list should be helpful. One recommendation
is to reduce the browser screen size of
your first hyperlink to the width of the
table outlining the species information.
Doing this will allow you to easily close
and return to the originally culled list
at scienceolympiad.com.
